Whether in writing, technology, entertainment and a lot more - those things which seem the most simple are actually the product of a lot of careful thought, sophisticated planning and obsession with a quality in the creation. This bench is an excellent example of that. Thank you for taking the time to share both plan and the ideas. I also love the concept of how the original bench was built with wood that was just lying around. I’ll store this one away for a future project…

Nice piece of work and of writing. Good description of both the beauty of simple lines and also where thoughtful details can be added to subtly improve a piece.

A very nice bench. And I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Aldo Leopold designed a bench.

I've designed and built exactly one bench, but it is still one of my favorite projects. I'm a carpenter, sometimes woodworker and a writer new to Substack. Looking forward to seeing more of your work and chronicles.

This bench is quite beautiful, but it is not in any way simple. I love the insight into the question of comfort, but this is a very complex piece of furniture with a very high competency.

That feels opposite the design language of the inspiration. Like writing baroque haiku.

Interesting for sure, but not simple.
